Deborah Irene Watson, 66, of Marlborough, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Harrington Court in Colchester. Born February 20, 1957 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Thelma (Robinson) Watson. During her younger years Debbie moved out to California where she had a unique career living on site at the Winchester House in San Jose providing security for the estate. She then went on to work for 25 years selling exotic plants from Hawaii, which were featured in garden shows throughout the country. In her spare time she loved to be out by the ocean and enjoyed numerous trips back and forth between California and the Hawaiian Islands for her work. Debbie never had children of her own, however she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She was affectionately referred to as “Aunt Fluffy” by her niece Jennifer when she was just a little girl, the nickname stuck and soon everyone knew her as Aunt Fluffy. She is survived by her sister Linda Robbins and husband Alan Robbins of Andover; nieces and nephews Jennifer and husband Grant Nichols, Daryl Robbins and Ashley Robbins and companion Jeff Stephenson; great niece and nephews Grant, Jr. Shawn and Jenna Nichols; and numerous other extended and family and friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT 06415. Burial will take place the following morning, Saturday April 15, 2023 at 11 AM directly at the Marlborough Cemetery, East Hampton Rd - Rt. 66 Marlborough, CT 06447 In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Debbie’s name to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York NY 10016.
