Donald Edward McBournie

Donald Edward McBournie, of Salem, passed away at his home on January 16, 2023.  He was 87 years old.  Donald was born on May 23, 1935 in Winthrop, MA, a son of the late John and  Margaret McBournie.  He retired several years ago from the Polymer Resources in  Farmington and GE after a long and successful career as a Plastics Engineer.  Early on in his career, Donald moved with his family, living in several areas of the Northeast.  He loved vacationing with them near the shores of Cape Cod, MA and also in Maine. His favorite pastime was saltwater fishing, which he enjoyed while vacationing and whenever he could slip away to the Long Island Sound.  Most importantly, Donald will be remembered as a hardworking and devoted family man who especially adored his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his wife Edna Cooper McBournie of 35 years; his children, Dean and his wife Ann McBournie of Denver, CO, Jennifer McBournie of Burlington, CT; two brothers, Richard McBournie of Ratharum, ID, Robert McBournie of Buzzard Bay, MA; four grandchildren, Adam, Noah, Amanda, and Abigail; and many extended family members and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara McBournie Sherman.  Funeral service will be held in the springtime of 2023 in Woodlawn Cemetery in upstate NY.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements. To share a memory or express a condolence to the family, please visit: www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
