Donna Miller Obituary

Donna Gustafson Miller, 78, of Cromwell, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Donna was born April 8, 1945, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Bertil Fritz and Doris (Nelson) Gustafson. Donna selflessly devoted her life to serving others. She had a long and diversified career as a nurse, beginning as an LPN and later attending St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing for her Registered Nurse Degree. She worked as a RN for several years at St. Francis Hospital before moving on to work for the Glastonbury Visiting Nurses Association. In 2003, she earned a degree in Massage Therapy from Fox Institute of Business. Donna was a devout Catholic. She attended St. Andrew Church in Colchester where she sang in the church choir and participated in Bible study. She later also joined St. John Church in Cromwell. Her desire to deepen her devotion to faith and God led her to enroll in the Archdiocese of Hartford Catholic Biblical School where she earned a certificate for Advanced Biblical Studies in 2019. Most recently she was also a member of the Lay Fraternities of St. Dominic, Our Lady of Grace chapter in Cromwell, CT. She had six children with her husband, James Miller. She is survived by James; son Eric; son Michael and his wife Sarah Brown Miller; daughter Jennifer Rosado, her husband Lawrence, and their son Edward; son Jason, his wife Tami Flanagan, and their children Teaghan and Michael; son Gregory, his wife Lauren Chase, and their children Isabelle and Jack; daughter Sarah and her partner Jason Goodenough; sister, Joyce Finnegan and her husband Joe; sister-in-law, Joan Gustafson; and numerous extended family members, friends, and four-legged grandchildren on her son Michael's farm. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers Bertil Gustafson, Jr. and his wife Barbara, and Raymond Gustafson. Donna was a fiercely dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She was kind, generous, funny, and wise. When not enjoying time with family and friends, she could usually be found reading, watching the UConn Huskies or History Channel, or pet-sitting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 9 to 11 AM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT. A celebration of the funeral mass will be at 11:30 AM at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Avenue, Colchester, CT. Burial will follow in New St. Andrew Cemetery, Colchester.
