Dorothy (Dottie) Churney Huron passed on November 22, 2024, at Clermont Park Senior Living Community in Denver, CO. She was 97 years old. She was born on August 29th, 1927, in Dearth, PA

She married Joseph (Joe) Huron (1922-2013) of Colchester, CT where they lived for over 75 years.  They had two children. A son, James Huron, of San Francisco, CA who passed in 2009; and a daughter, Donna Huron Marosy, wife to John Paul Marosy, currently of Littleton, CO.  Dot’s parents, Martin & Anna Churney, lived in Uniontown, PA.  Dottie was the eighth of eight children: Elizabeth, Mary, Helen, Margaret, John, Joseph, and Martin, all deceased. She leaves three grandchildren, Laura Bosco Huron of Saugerties, NY and her brother, Matthew James Huron, and Martin Huron Marosy, both of Denver, CO.  Her numerous nieces and nephews live throughout the US.

Dottie moved to Colchester, CT at age 13, and graduated from Bacon Academy.  She was a sought-after bookkeeper at a numerous car dealership, starting at Schuster’s in Colchester, and went on to become a successful Certified Accountant in the Automotive industry.

Dottie & Joe were members of St. Andrew’s Parish, in Colchester, for more than fifty years. Together, they loved to play golf, garden and entertain, and were active members of the Colchester Farmer’s Club for over five decades.

In her 70s, she and Joe began to travel, making their first international excursion to Russia, and from there went on to explore Eastern Europe and finally to Australia & New Zealand.

They spent their winters in Jupiter, Florida for more than 25 years. Dottie lived with her daughter, Donna, and her husband, John Paul Marosy, in Worcester, MA and Bethlehem, PA before moving to Denver in 2018. In 2020, Dottie moved to Clermont Park Retirement Community in Denver, CO where she lived until she passed.

Dottie will always be remembered for her deep caring and kindness for other people, her gracious hospitality, and her fun-loving spirt.
