Edith Anne Nicola, age 85, of Colchester, passed away on April 27, 2020 at the Marlborough Health and Rehab Center. Born in Strong, ME on December 12, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Violet (Lambert) Gilmore. She married her beloved husband Walter and the couple made their home in Colchester where they raised their family. Edith retired several years ago after long and successful career as a Food Stamp Supervisor for the State of CT. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and reading mystery novels. Most importantly, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves her children, Rusty and his wife, Ivy Nicola of E. Hartford, Stephen (Sandy) and his wife, Eve Nicola of East Haddam; sisters, Coralie and Cheryl; four grandchildren, Sarah, Shannon, Nancy and Julie; and many extended family members and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two children, Nicolette Korman and Carole McKinney; a sister, Anita Weldon, and a brother, David Gilmore. Funeral services will be held privately. She will be laid to rest beside her late husband Walter in New St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Colchester.
