Edward John Marcinkowski, Jr.

Edward “John” Marcinkowski, Jr. 74, of Colchester passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Born June 11, 1946 in Hartford; he was the son of the late Edward J. Marcinkowski, Sr. and Helen (Pawelczyk) Marcinkowski. John proudly served our nation in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after his assignment in Danang, Vietnam. He worked for several years at Equipment Services Inc. in Hartford.  He retired from working at the main branch of the Hartford post office. In 1991 he married his loving wife, Claudia. John was an enthusiast of classic muscle cars, circle track racing, and drag racing. Some of his fondest memories were working the staging lanes at the CT Drag Strip in East Haddam. He loved sports, flea markets, and collecting. He was proud of his Polish heritage. He is survived by his wife Claudia Marcinkowski of Colchester; son Adam (Abbie) Maikshilo of Ashford; sister Elizabeth (George) Yundt of Durham North Carolina; grandchild Oliver Maikshilo; and numerous other extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021  from 10 - 11 AM, directly at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT 06415.
