Elaine Joseph Obituary

It is with great sadness, the family of Elaine Michelle Joseph (Stokes) share her passing on February 1, 2022, after a long illness.  She resided in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was 53 years young.

Elaine is originally from North Stonington, Connecticut, daughter of Robert and Marianne Stokes (Minchin), graduating from Wheeler High School and went on to excel in the field of music and art.  Elaine is survived by her husband, Michael Joseph of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, her mother, Marianne Stokes of Colchester, Connecticut, as well as six siblings – Patricia (John) Wagner of Colchester, Connecticut, Nancy LoPriore of Hope Valley, Rhode Island, Tami (Gilles) Gaudreau of Plainfield, Connecticut, Michael (Laurie) Stokes of Groton, Connecticut, Christina Stokes of Pawcatuck, Connecticut, and Julianne de’Medici of Las Vegas, Nevada.  Elaine also leaves behind her beloved cat, Minchy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was predeceased by her brother, Shawn Rene Stokes and her father, Robert Malcolm Stokes.

Elaine loved gymnastics, taking some instruction in her younger years but her “true” love was music and art.   She relocated to Florida, loving the warmer weather.  Once in Florida she became involved in an art gallery alongside her husband.  They were a “team” to be reconned with and the gallery was very successful.

Elaine became involved in the Toys for Tots organization where she and her husband hosted the annual local drive in their area in Florida for several years.  Elaine was also involved in animal rescues and loved cats.

Burial will be private.

A flight of butterflies carrying you from earth to heaven, rest in peace and be free, Laine!
