Eleanor Jean Phillips, 83, of Colchester, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Born May 25, 1940, in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late James and Jean (Grant) Macintyre. Eleanor was a graduate of Roslindale High School in Massachusetts. She was employed as loan office manager for CorePlus Federal Credit Union, where she had worked for many years. Eleanor was involved in the local community center, as well as the Thames Valley Council for Community Action. Eleanor lived in various locations on the eastern and western coasts of the U.S, as well as Alaska during her husband James Phillips' naval career, settling in Gales Ferry for 30 years before relocating to Colchester, CT. She was a very crafty person who developed a passion for photography; Eleanor held the creative ability to recognize and showcase the natural beauty within the world through her photography. Eleanor deeply enjoyed flying and valued her time spent as a charter pilot flying from Groton to Montauk. Being a pilot allowed Eleanor to spend cherished moments with her daughters while in the air embarking on local flights, as well as farther destinations such as Maine, and Florida. Eleanor will be deeply missed by all that knew her, especially by her beloved daughters, Sandra and Deborah Phillips, along with countless other extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her son James Phillips. A memorial service will be held at the Westchester Congregational Church, 98 Cemetery Road, Colchester, CT 06415 on Saturday November 18, at 10AM.
