Elizabeth (Majcher) Rodrigue-Desnoyers, 65, of Colchester, passed into the loving arms of our Lord on Monday, Nov. 27, at home surrounded by family, on the same date her father passed in 2009. Born in Norwich on June 12, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Chester P. and Frances D. (Marcinkiewicz) Majcher. Elizabeth graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1976. She went on to pursue an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology from Manchester Community College, graduating in 1979, after she started working at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London in 1977 in the operating room. Thereafter, she obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing from Mohegan Community College in 1982, while also getting married to Leo T. Rodrigue Jr. on October 17, 1980. Lastly, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Connecticut State University in 2005. Elizabeth continued to work as a nurse at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital while having her 3 children Leo T. Rodrigue III, Michael M. Rodrigue (spouse Ida), and Victoria A. Rodrigue. Elizabeth was predeceased by her first husband Leo on August 17, 1993. Elizabeth eventually met her second husband Lawrence J. Desnoyers Jr., whom she married on November 20, 1999. Through her second marriage Elizabeth is also survived by her 3 stepchildren Jeffrey M. Desnoyers (spouse Ed), Jennifer L. Sklodosky (spouse Chad), Ashley E. Desnoyers, and 2 grandchildren Roselyn and Trenton Sklodosky. She is also survived by her brother Richard J. Majcher (spouse Barbara), her sister Jeanne Lathrop, several nephews, and a niece. She was predeceased by a sister Catherine E. Majcher, and a brother-in-law Raymond Lathrop. “Betty” always believed in giving back to the community. While her children were in grammar school she volunteered in their classroom and taught religious instruction. She also was the PTO treasurer for 5 years while her children attended Colchester Intermediate School. In later years she was the treasurer for 8 years of her local AORN chapter. Her greatest volunteer work was attending a missionary trip to Haiti, where she helped perform surgeries. Elizabeth touched every life that was fortunate enough to cross her path and will live on in the hearts of many. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM directly at the St. Andrew Church 128 Norwich Avenue, Colchester, CT 06415, followed by a funeral mass at 12:30. Burial will take place in the New St. Andrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth asked that memorial donations be made to any local ASPCA chapter.
