Ethan Jeffrey Maynard

Ethan Jeffrey Maynard, age 21, of Colchester, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020. Born in Manchester on December 22, 1998, he was the beloved Son of Jeffrey & Tracy Maynard and Samantha Costley.

Ethan grew up in Colchester and graduated from Bacon Academy in the Class of 2016. A proud Member of IBEW Local 90 out of New Haven, Ethan was working through his apprenticeship with Paul Dinto Electrical Contractors, Inc. to become a licensed electrician. In a short period of time, Ethan quickly became a friend to his co-workers and brought his determination, insatiable work ethic and tremendous character to the field daily.

Ethan was an extraordinary son, a fierce friend, and brought pure light into the lives of all who knew him. Ethan was a gift to all who knew him. Loved beyond measure by both of his mothers, his father and family, adored by his friends and respected by all who knew him, the absence of Ethan has devastated all who had the remarkable privilege of knowing him.

Ethan had an irrevocable passion and a soul-level appreciation for music from the time he was very young. At 9 years of age he asked for his first guitar, and by the age of 12 had mastered playing it with nothing but his own raw talent and commitment to learning to play music. Music was a fundamental part of his being. Albeit listening to music, sharing music, attending concerts, or his ultimate love, playing his guitar, music was his constant companion. Ethan was certified as an Open Water SCUBA diver and his favorite times were with his Father on annual family trips to The Cayman Islands.

Ethan understood from an early age that sometimes, the ones that teach us the most about humanity, are not human. His love for his dogs Hunter, May, Jack, Bella & Pipin was boundless.

Ethan remains eternally loved and will be forever missed by both of his mothers, Samantha Costley of West Hartford and Tracy Maynard of Colchester; his father, Jeffrey Maynard of Colchester; his sister, Kaylie Maynard; his grandparents, Robert & Jacqueline Wilkinson of Stafford Springs, CT, Alphonse Maynard of FL, and Henry & CarolAnn Osipa of East Hampton, CT; his beloved pets; and all of his extended family and friends.

Walk-through calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 20th from 4-7 pm at Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester. Masks are required to enter and social distancing rules must be adhered to. Burial will be held privately.
