Frederick Nyle Parmenter Sr. 84, of Moodus, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 23,2023. Fred was born May 24, 1939, in Middleborough, Massachusetts; he was the son of the late Frederick M. Parmenter and Alice E. (Fuller) Parmenter. In 1963 he married his wife, the late Sandra Bailey (Perreault) Parmenter. They shared close to 60 years of marriage together until, sadly she recently passed on September 16th of this year. Fred was a proud member of the UAW and worked for Colt Firearms in Hartford, Rocky Hill and West Hartford for 40 Years. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Fred was a Movie buff and Sports fan and enjoyed coaching little League baseball for many years. Fred always loved family picnics, a good meal and playing cards with family and friends. He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, enjoying an occasional trip to the Bronx and was always ready to watch the game on TV. He also enjoyed watching his other favorite sports teams, the New York Giants and UConn Women’s basketball. He is survived by his children David J. Parmenter and wife Denise Parmenter of Columbia CT and Frederick N. Parmenter Jr. of Millbury, MA; sister in-law Elaine Baitler of Naples ME; grandchildren Darien Parmenter of CT and Allison Parmenter of MA; and numerous other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, brother, sisters, and spouse, he is also predeceased by his granddaughter Daena Bailey Parmenter. Visitation will take place on December 5, 2023 from 10 to 11 AM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT 06415. A chapel service will take place at 11 AM at the funeral home and will be followed by burial in the First Church Cemetery in East Haddam.
