Gary John Grymkowski Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the untimely passing of Gary John Grymkowski, 65, of Bozrah. Gary passed away on October 7, 2024. While we are deeply saddened by Gary’s untimely passing, we take solace in knowing he passed doing what he loved most, deep-sea fishing with his friends. Gary was born on January 3, 1959, in Norwich, CT to the late John and Irene (Busch) Grymkowski. For many years he worked as an electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, I.B.E.W local 35 Union, until his retirement. Gary lived at Woodmen Farms at Gardner Lake on the property where he built a log cabin with his father. He absolutely loved his land, and in his youth he perfected the art of barefoot skiing on the lake. In addition to being an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed spending countless hours with his friends in his garage working on race cars that they would sponsor to be raced at the Waterford Racetrack. Gary is survived by his life partner of 32 years Anne Thompson; his sister Wendy and her husband Thomas Farnitano; his nephews Nicholas, Zachary and Chase Farnitano; and his great nephew Jonah Farnitano. In addition to his immediate family, Gary had a circle of very close longstanding friends that will miss him dearly.

Gary, you were one in a million. May your soul rest in peace, we will love you forever.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held from noon – 4 pm on Sunday, October 20th at the Colchester Fish and Game Club.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.
