It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Thomas Russell, on Wednesday, Dec 25, 2024.   He was 79 at the time of his passing. Gary was born in Hartford, CT on December 1, 1945. He was the son of the late Donald and Alice (Windsor) Russell of Glastonbury, CT.  Gary was a graduate of Glastonbury High School.  In 1963, he proudly served our nation by enlisting in the United States Air Force. Gary then went on to work and ultimately retired from Bell Telephone.  He then worked for several years as a Group Home Manager for Oak Hill in Glastonbury where he also retired.  Gary lived a life filled with love, devotion to family, friends and community.  He loved to travel, play golf and spend time with his family.   His presence was a blessing to all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed. Gary is survived by his beloved son Donald Russell and his wife Rena Russell and also his daughter Brenda Lincoln along with his granddaughters Madison and Makenna Russell, Samantha and Hayden Lincoln.  He is also survived by his long-time girlfriend of over 30 years Joanne Doyer and her 5 children Jim, Jennifer, Joanna, Erin and Billy.  In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Alan Russell, sister Donna Walsh and nephew Thomas Walsh. Calling hours will be held at Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, from 12-2 pm.  Burial will be private.
