Gloria Cole Woods Obituary

Gloria “Sis” Cole Woods, 76, of Colchester, and formerly of Groton passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Apple Rehab in Colchester. Born November 12, 1944 in Claremont, New Hampshire; she was a daughter of the late Chester Woods and Irene (Fraser) Woods. Gloria began her career working as a graphic artist, and later she worked for many years as a veterinarian assistant at Dr. Doolittle’s Veterinary offices in Preston and Groton. Gloria took pride in her work and cherished her relationships with both the animals and the people she cared for. Gloria loved to travel and visited many places. Her favorite places were by the sea. Cape Cod held a special place in her heart and she would visit Misquamicut Beach whenever she had the chance. No matter the season, she spent much of her days at one of her favorite local spots, Eastern Point Beach in Groton. Gloria loved to be outdoors, she spent many summer nights around the campfire at “the lake,” holding a seasonal camper site for almost 20 years at Laurel Lock Campground in Bozrah, CT. Gloria was a woman of many trades, skills and talents; you could always find her working on her home, various creative projects, or helping out family and friends. Many of her loved ones are the proud owners of her beautiful photographs, and everyone who knew her will remember her with a camera in her hand. Gloria will always be remembered with a beautiful heart, contagious laugh, and being a strong woman through and through. Gloria loved deeply and selflessly and was the anchor to many. Her family was always well taken care of by her, and above all being with those she loved brought her the most joy. She is survived by her son and his wife, David and Lisa Cole; her granddaughter and her husband, Danielle and Brad Ream, and two great grandchildren Joshua and Jake. Her sister and her husband Terry and John Roche; Her nephew Jason Roche, her niece and her husband, Jessica and Jeremy Zeedyk, as well as her great niece and nephew Dylan and Dalila.
