Harold Hoskins Obituary

Harold E. Hoskins passed away peacefully on November 13, 2019. Born October 2, 1943 in Kildav, Kentucky; he was a son of the late Millard and Eva Hoskins. He proudly served in the US Navy (submarine division) from 1961 to 1981. During his service he did a tour in Vietnam from November 9, 1969 to November 22, 1970.  Harold engaged in conflict against the North Vietnamese & Viet Cong communist aggressors on the Mekong river delta from March to November in 1970.  He received the Vietnamese Cross for Gallantry. During his career in the military, Harold worked as an instructor at the Combat Craft Orientation School, where he taught Vietnamese personnel job-oriented English Language & small craft operational skills to prepare for on-the-job training with US Navy combat units. From 1982 to 1984 He worked at the Unidyne Corporation in Niantic CT as a production manager/QA-QC supervisor. From 1984-1991 Harold worked for the Northeast Nuclear Energy Company in Waterford CT, and Maintenance Mechanic "A" from 1991-1995, and later as a Nuclear Technician from 1995-2000 and Mechanical Planner for Mechanical Department at Millstone Unit 3. A sentiment from his wife, Claudia, "I thank God for bringing Harold & myself together in marriage.  It was a GREAT JOURNEY!!!  And I will miss him dearly". Harold is survived by his loving wife Claudia Hoskins of Salem; his son Sean Hoskins of Niantic; his brother Bill Hoskins of Kentucky; and numerous extended family and friends. Services will be private in accordance with Harold’s wishes. Care of private arrangements have been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester.
