Howard E. Griffin, known by many of his friends as “Sparky”, passed away in the comfort of his home, Sunday, July 31st, 2022. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and friend. Sparky was born on October 5, 1945 to the late Sherwood and Ellen (Olin) Griffin. He was a hard worker who went on to work for the State of Connecticut. Sparky served the state of CT D.O.T for more than 26 years, keeping our roads clear of snow, repaired of pot-holes, and generally safe for drivers. He enjoyed taking part in the tractor pulls at the Hebron Harvest Fair, rooting for the NY Yankees, and of course the Patriots. Sparky was a member of the American Legion, Post. 197 and the Marlborough Moose. He was known as the “mayor” of his local watering-hole, Butterballs. Sparky’s drink of choice being Budweiser, was a fitting choice, because when one thinks of a staple American beer, they think of Bud… and the same can be said about Howard “Sparky” Griffin. He was a community staple and will be missed by many people. He will be most sorely missed by his three sons, Keith Griffin, Mark Griffin, and Rod Griffin; grandchildren, Katherine, Matt, Sean, and Cody; sister Beverly Dufresne, and especially by his nephew, Kenneth Griffin. A Graveside Service will be celebrated on Friday, August 19th, at 10:00 AM, in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, 30 Church Street, Hebron (behind St. Peter’s Church).
