Jacob Philip Chapman

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jacob Philip Chapman. Jake lost his life in a tragic car accident on Friday, October 22, 2021. He was 18 years old. Jake was born on April 1, 2003 in Manchester. He was the son of D.Travis and Hilary (Jones) Chapman of Colchester. Jake lived life to the fullest. He valued his family and friends and brought a smile to everyone he met. He particularly enjoyed fishing with friends, playing lacrosse, and his annual trips to Cape Cod with his cousins.

Growing up in Colchester, Jake had a great talent and affinity for Lacrosse. He started with Colchester Youth Lacrosse and went on to play with the Bacon Academy Lacrosse team, graduating with the class of 2021. Currently, Jake was attending Western CT State University as a freshman and was also a member of the Lacrosse team there.

Those left to treasure his memory are his parents Travis and Hilary Chapman, his beloved sister Aviana, his grandparents Bruce and Cindy Jones, Aunt Jen (Jon) Bronzi, Uncle Reese (Kim) Jones, Uncle Ben Jones, Aunt Jane (Skip) Thomas, Aunt Susan Chapman, Uncle Jimmy Chapman, numerous cousins and special family friend "Grampa" Phil Grasso. Jake was predeceased by his grandparents Raymond and Joan Chapman.

A lovable and caring son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Jake brought much joy into our lives and will be cherished forever. Even though our hearts are broken, we take solace in the fact that we were able to share his life for 18 years. You left us way too soon, you fine young man, but we gladly embrace the time we got.

A celebration of Jake's life with visitation calling hours will be held on Monday, November 1st from 3-7 pm at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester. All other services will be held privately. The family requests that donations to honor Jake's memory be made to benefit other youth to enjoy Lacrosse as he did.
