James Linane Obituary
James Linane, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and true "salt of the earth", passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 7th 2026.
Born on August 31, 1939, at St. Vincents Hospital in Bridgeport to John Linane and Agnes Murphy Linane, Jim lived a life defined by kindness, humor, and an unwavering presence for those he loved.
A proud veteran, Jim served his country in the United States Army before returning home to build a life centered on family. He worked at Jenkins Valves of Bridgeport as an expediter and foreman until its closure, after which he and his wife ran a small convenience store in Bridgeport.
He was a man of rare characterfriendly, welcoming, and always ready with a joke to raise your spirits or give heartfelt advice when it was needed most. With a humble spirit, he lived life with a warm and welcoming soul that touched everyone he met. Jims greatest joy was found in the simple moments spent with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Linane; his daughter, Sharon Macken and son-in-law Patrick of Punta Gorda, Florida; his son, Richard Linane and daughter-in-law Michelle of Colchester; and his brother, John Linane of Stratford. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Richard and Rebecca Linane, who were his pride and joy. James was preceded in death by his older brother, William Linane.
His legacy of being a helpful, funny, and a deeply present man will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Calling hours will be at The Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home on March 21, 2026, from 1-3PM with a service at 3PM.
