He continued his career at UPS for 40 years as a delivery driver then a tractor trailer driver earning a prestigious award for 31 continuous years of safe driving.
Jim and his wife raised their children in Lebanon, CT where he became very involved with St. Francis of Assisi Church, the community and the Knights of Columbus holding numerous positions on a local and State level including being lead coordinator in Lebanon, hosting and housing athletes form two countries for the World Special Olympics until he retired and moved to The Villages in 2014.
Over the years, Jim continued to volunteer for charity events and helped to raise over $20,000 a year for different Charities in FL as co-chair and chair of the St Timothy Knights of Columbus 10034’s Annual Golf Tournament. Jim also held the position of Financial Secretary and Grand Knight of his council.
Jim loved family and friends, New York Yankees, NFL Giants, woodworking, playing cards and golf. He and his wife had taken close to 50 cruises and loved them. Jim had many talents and was always great at organizing and running events. He loved factual information and retained most of what he read. He was proficient in plumbing, electrical, woodworking and engineering. If you had a problem he could solve it, if you needed help, he was always there. If you needed a friend he was your man. He had a heart of gold, came across as a little gruff but once you figured him out he was a big teddy bear which was his handle as a truck driver. In Jim's words, "This one's for you! It's been fun!"
