Jean Lyman Obituary

Jean A. Lyman, of West Hartford and formerly of Hebron, passed away peacefully at home early Wednesday morning on June 15, 2022. She was 93 years old. Born in New York City, NY on September 11, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Jane (Bodell) Hart. Jean married William V. Lyman in 1948. The couple shared 48 years of marriage before he predeceased her in 1997. Jean was a devout Catholic throughout her lifetime. She was a communicant at Church of the Holy Family in Hebron. Jean was a member of the Hebron Senior Center where she joyfully sang with the Sunshine Singers. She leaves to mourn her passing but remember her with love, her children and their spouses, Kevin and his wife Cathy Lyman of San Marcos, TX, Mark and his wife Kim Abery Lyman of Winter Park, FL, Jennifer and her husband John Muller of West Hartford, CT, Cheryl MacLachlan and her husband Fred Gorelick of Stony Creek, CT; five grandchildren, Megan Lyman Lee, Hillary Lyman Franchi, Haley Romanofski, Lucy Lyman, and Heather Loranger; four great grandchildren, Noah and Lucia Franchi, Graydon and Beckett Lee; and many extended family members and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased in death by her siblings, John Hart, June Schmidt, and Rita Rychlicki. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Angie Smith, with whom Jean made her home. Angie was Jean’s angel, a loving and devoted caregiver and friend who saw to Jean’s every need for more than six years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18th beginning at 10 am with a calling hour from 10 – 11 am at the Church of the Holy Family, 185 Church Street, Hebron. Celebration of the funeral mass will follow immediately at 11 AM. She will be laid to rest in the New Hebron Cemetery beside her husband William.
