Jeffrey Clermont

Jeffrey Clermont, 56 of Colchester passed away on November 8, 2023. Born on June 12, 1967, in Willimantic CT; beloved son of Alan and Susan (Martel) Clermont. Jeffrey was a graduate of the Windham Technical High School Machine Drafting program class of 1985. He was an employee of General Dynamics for 37 years; Jeffrey began his career as a pipe designer, later becoming supervisor of pipe design, and finishing his career as a principal program representative. He had also served as chairman of the board of finance for the town of Hampton, CT for 6 years before relocating to Colchester. Jeffrey married his partner in crime Joanne in 1990 spending the following 33 years enjoying each other’s company and building a life together. Jeffrey’s greatest joy in life was spending time with family, treasuring every precious moment spent with his daughters Renee and Haley. He served on the Chaplin recreation committee and coached his oldest daughter’s soccer team when living in Chaplin, CT. In his early years Jeffrey was an avid bowler playing with many teams at the Lucky Strike bowling lanes in Mansfield, CT. Jeffrey also played softball with the Willimantic softball league for many years, some of the best alongside his father as his mother enthusiastically cheered them on. Jeff was a very passionate runner; it was a thrill for him to participate in Spartan races, and tuff mudders. When He needed some tranquility, Jeff could be found enjoying fly fishing, kayaking, and hiking in countless state parks and any road less traveled. He loved summer vacations every year with his family at their favorite place; Old Orchard beach in Maine, a family tradition for the past 21 years where innumerable fond memories were made. Jeff’s sarcasm and quick wit brought many laughs and groans to friends and family. He was always the life of the party even at the expense of making fun of himself. Jeff’s presence will be sorely missed, yet no one will miss him as much as his best friend in life, his wife Joanne. Jeffrey will be profoundly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him especially his family; wife, Joanne Clermont; daughters, Renee Clermont, and husband Sebastian Rose of Lewiston Maine, Haley Clermont of Glastonbury, CT; mother, Susan Clermont; sister, Kellie and husband John McLauglin and her children Nick, Colin, and Ally; sister in law, Karen, and husband Zach, and their children Blake, and Logan; father in law, Robert Schwanda of Willington, CT. along with many special cousins, aunts, uncles, dear friends, neighbors, fellow sportsmen, long time schoolmates, and colleagues local, and abroad in the united Kingdom. Jeffrey is predeceased by his father, Alan Clermont, as well as his mother-in-law Francoise. The family would also like to recognize Joachim Baehring, M.D neuro- oncologist and Mathew Dodd P.A from the brain tumor program at Yale New Haven Smilow cancer hospital, as well as Jennifer Moliterno Gunel M.D neurosurgeon. The family would also like to thank Waters Edge center for health and rehabilitation in Middletown, CT, 2nd floor nursing staff, C.N.A’s, and behind the scenes individuals for the compassion, care, and kindness they showed Jeffrey and his family during his last months of life. They treated him like family and the Clermont family will be forever grateful.
