Joan Louise Frantzen

Joan Louise Frantzen of Colchester, passed from this life into the arms of the Lord on December 4, 2022.  Her ten year struggle with illness now over, she rests in perfect health and perfect peace in heaven.  Joan was 68 years old.  Born on January 30, 1954 in Dassel, MN, she was a daughter of Oscar and Lorraine (Martinson) Peterson.  Joan married her beloved husband, Kurt Frantzen on December 27, 1981 and in due course, the couple moved to Colchester where they made their home and raised their two sons. Joan was a woman of great faith.  She worshiped her Lord and Savior with the church family at the Colchester Federated Church where she also sang in the choir and served as a Deacon. Joan was a musician, using her own voice and a piano to compose and create beautiful sounds that were enjoyed by all to hear.  Joan was a paraprofessional working in the Colchester Public Schools for nearly twenty years.  She was also a talented craft artist, doing business as Ragtime Designs and producing beautiful creations which many people now have to treasure.  Her passing will be mourned by all who knew her but she will always be remembered with love by her husband of 40 years, Kurt; her sons, Nels Peter Frantzen and Garth Conrad Frantzen; a sister, Jan Flynn; brothers, Ford and Wade Peterson; and numerous extended family members and friends.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 10 AM at the Colchester Federated Church, 60 Main St., Colchester CT 06415.  Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the church.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.
