Joan Lillian Hamilton, 88, of Mansfield Center passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Douglas Manor in Windham, CT. Born May 17, 1936, in Greenfield, Massachusetts; She was a daughter of the late Daniel and Noeline (Carrier) Scott. After graduating high school, Joan went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. While in college Joan became pen pals with Leslie Hamilton, as he was serving in the U.S Navy, their correspondence blossomed, and they began dating soon after. After Les’ honorable discharge in 1957, Joan and Les began planning for their marriage in 1958. The loving couple settled in Poquetanuck Cove, CT and began to build their family together. They soon relocated to VA and subsequently moved to TN. In 1975 the couple moved to Amston CT and joined St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Hebron. Joan was active in the St. Peter’s Church community and enjoyed spending time at the family home in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. In her free time Joan could be found passionately exercising her creativity, creating watercolor paintings, and never shying away from a good book. Her greatest joy in life came from her family, whom she loved more than anything. She eagerly looked forward to visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were a source of great pride in her life.
