Joel J. Berube Obituary

Joel J. Berube, of Colchester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, with his family by his side.


Joel was born on March 21,1942, in Fort Kent, Maine, and was the son of the late David and Alvine Berube. After he graduated from High School, he moved to Connecticut and attended Barber School and at the age of 21, was drafted to the Army for the Vietnam conflict. After his military commitment, he met Rena Caron and they were married in 1967. The two settled and lived in Connecticut to raise their two children. Rena predeceased Joel in October 2017 and in 2021 Joel married Doris Denault.


Joel will be remembered as a family man. He always enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling all over the world and in his later years, he joined the Antique Veterans to provide military honors.


Joel will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Doris; his son, Dean Berube and wife Zelma Berube of Colchester, his daughter Lisa Berube-Neubert and husband Carl Neubert of Deep River; his grandchildren David, Daniel, and Trey; his siblings Don, Gene, Betty, and Lucy; along with many extended family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother James and sister Claudette.


A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11am at St. Andrews Church in Colchester with a burial to follow at the New St. Andrew cemetery.
