John Burger Obituary

John Burger, 58, of Columbia (formerly of Manchester & South Windsor) husband to Patricia Burger and father to Kelsey Burger passed away on Monday July 13th after a short and courageous battle with brain cancer. He is predeceased by his mother Agnes (Caufield) Burger and father Robert F. Burger as well as his beloved brother James Burger and sister Margaret Sirois.

John was born on February 3, 1962. John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Patricia and daughter Kelsey for whom he loved more than anything. He is also survived by his brother & sister in law Robert F. Jr., and Amelia Burger of Marlborough, sister in law Kathy Burger of Jupiter, FL, sister Marianne AuBuchon of Kilgore, TX, sister & brother in law Agnes and Brian Kane of Portland, sister & brother in law Jeanne and Edward Ridpath of Fuquay Varina, NC; and many nieces, nephews & other family members. He is also survived by his in laws Mark & Margaret Verizzi who he loved & who loved him like a son along with their family & friends.

John made such a lasting impression on those who knew him with his kindness, sense of humor, and gentle heart. He loved running cross country in middle & high school in South Windsor. He began to sing in high school and has cherished music ever since. He was a beloved member of his church choir. John developed his love of weightlifting while attending Eastern State University. He continued doing workouts during his battle with cancer. He had many fond memories and made many, many friends from his years at Eastern University as well.

John was a pillar in the Commercial Interior Sale’s community and was well loved by all. His most recent job at Koroseal provided him with such joy & pride. He cherished his family and friends very much. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and daughter and spending time with his large group of friends from high school, college, gym, church, work... Words cannot describe the impact he has made on this earth to so many. He will be missed by many, but will remain forever in our hearts. He was and always will be our “Total Sweetness”.

A private Catholic Mass will be held by invitation only given COVID precautions.
