John Stanley Federkiewicz, of Colchester, passed away suddenly at his home on March 15, 2023. He was 80 years old. John was born in Hartford on April 26, 1942, the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Jednowicz) Federkiewicz. John graduated from Conard High School in West Hartford and soon after he enlisted in the US Navy. John served on the U.S.S. Mathews for a four year tour of duty during the Vietnam War. Immediately upon his discharge from the Navy, he married his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia (O’Donnell) Federkiewicz on March 30, 1966. The couple settled in Colchester where they made their home and raised their son, Jeff. John retired in 2002 after a long and successful career as a maintenance mechanic for United Tool and Dye in West Hartford. John was a talented hobbyist woodworker, making ornate bird houses and many other treasures. John enjoyed gardening and loved to take care of his yard. John will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered always with love by his wife, Pat; his son, Jeff and his wife Tammie of Salem; a grandson, Kyle of East Haddam; a sister, Carol Boucher and her husband, Frank of VA; and several extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester on March 22nd beginning with calling hours from 2-4PM, followed by a funeral home service at 4PM with full Military Honors. Burial will be private in the Westchester Center Cemetery.
