John Wayne Huling

John Wayne Huling, age 81, of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Hartford Hospital. Born August 29, 1938; he was a son of the late Vance and Edna (Small) Huling. John served our nation by enlisting in the United States Airforce in 1956.

After he was honorably discharged in 1960, he married his wife Dixie (Martin). The couple moved to Lebanon in 1964, where they raised their family. John worked at the DOW Chemical Company in Gales Ferry for 38 years, retiring in 2001. He was an active member of the Lebanon Democratic Town Committee as well as several others. He was a rabid Red Sox fan.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, growing potatoes and all of his beloved pets. He loved to sit under the shade tree in the yard, where he took numerous afternoon naps. He will be remembered as a loving family man with a great sense of humor, a joking manner, and a huge heart.

He is survived by his wife Dixie; daughter Johnna and her spouse Rose; sons, Jason and Jeffrey along with his spouse Sophia; his nephew, Vance Davis Huling III and his spouse Ceil; his beloved caregivers, Linda, Lisa, Michelle, and David; and numerous other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Vance Davis Huling Jr., and his sister Nancy (Huling) Sprengelmeyer.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 5 – 7 PM followed by a chapel service at 7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Burial will be private.
