John William Sabo, Jr. better known as “Jay”, 64, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Backus Hospital in Norwich. Born September 12, 1956 in Wallingford; he was a son of John William Sabo, Sr. and Joan Alma (McKeon) Sabo. In 1985 he married his wife, Cindy (Raccio) Sabo. For over 25 years, Jay worked as a welder and machinist at Millstone Nuclear Power Plant in Waterford. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, exploring the great outdoors, or tending to his gardens. When he wasn’t exploring, Jay could always be found in his garage working on his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and restoring his classic Buick. Jay was also not shy in the kitchen, enjoying cooking for his closest friend and family. He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 45 years Cindy Sabo; children John Sabo the III, Nick Sabo, and Christeen Winkler (husband James Winkler) and grandson Theodore Jay Winkler, parents John Sabo, Sr. and Joan Sabo, siblings Charles “Chuck” Sabo (wife Karen Sabo), Pat Sabo (wife Sally Sabo), Fran Sabo (wife Sheila Sabo), Cheryl Collins, and Eileen Sabo; brother in law Skip Raccio; several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. Calling hours will be held from 4-6 PM on Monday, June 14, 2021 directly at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester.
