Joyce Nona Gibbons-Higgins of Marion NY, passed away on March 31, 2022, at the Autumn Lake Healthcare at Cromwell where she had recently been residing on hospice care. Joyce was born on September 12, 1949, in Lyons, NY, she was a daughter of the late James Lawrence and Barbara (Knapp) Gibbons. She was 72 years old. Joyce grew up in Marion, NY where she began a long and successful career as a medical billing specialist. Her career started out working in the local pharmacy in Wolcott NY, which led to working for a children's orthodontist. Joyce later took a position as a billing specialist for a large orthopedic physicians group and later for Dr. Kates Orthopedic in Rochester, NY. She retired several years ago from Rochester General Hospital. Joyce moved to CT in 2018 to live closer to her daughter, Tammy, whom she loved dearly and was always supportive of. Joyce loved watching professional football, Dancing with the Stars, or reading. Most importantly, her greatest joy came from spending time with her four beautiful grandchildren. She will be sadly missed, yet always remembered with love by her daughter and son in law, Tammy and John Flahive; grandchildren, Alyssa and Alexander Kusher, Gracie Joy and John Thomas Flahive, all of Hebron CT; her two sisters Ann Taylor of Marion NY and Judy Wunder and her husband, George, of Lyons, NY; and Pre-deceased by Thomas Gibbons, her beloved brother and survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Gibbons. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In memory of Joyce Nona Gibbons-Higgins Donations can be made on behalf of her beloved Son in law in John Flahive’s passion as a proud Hebron Lions member who enjoys volunteering at all events to support the Hebron Community and many Charities.
