ROWLAND, Juanita Rose, age 74, of Colchester passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Born November 13, 1946 in Windham, Connecticut; she was a daughter of the late Florence and Paul Watkins and attended RHAM High School. She married her husband, Daniel Rowland, May 29th, 1969 at the Federated Church in Colchester. They settled in Colchester, raising their family and sharing 52 years of marriage. Over the years, Juanita worked at Dino’s, Schusters Express, Clark Transportation, Fairy Tale Formals and Cuts Unlimited. She also owned Juanita’s Sewing & Alterations, which she deeply enjoyed, until her retirement in 2010. She enjoyed breeding and raising toy poodles for over 30 years. She was an Honored Member of the Colchester Hayward Fire Company Auxiliary with over 50 years of service. At some point in time, Juanita had served in every position - President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Executive Committee. She was an integral part of the annual Frosty Fair and she and her husband started the annual holiday dinner at the Fire Company. She was always at the ready to feed the fire personnel at calls whenever needed. She will be forever loved and remembered by husband Danny; her children Dawn (Paul) Gencarelli and Danielle Rowland; brothers William, Andrew, Michael and Eric Watkins; sisters Jessica Carroll, Mildred Beckham, Cynthia Hastings, numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers James and Leonard Watkins, sister Veronica Freeman and special niece Janice Tharpe. Care of arrangements has been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home. A memorial service for Juanita will be held at the Colchester Hayward Fire Company, 52 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester, CT on Saturday, July 24, 2021, starting at 1pm.
