Julia Towpasz Obituary
Julia Towpasz, 88, of East Lyme, passed away on March 16th, 2026, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. Julia was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born on December 25, 1937, in Krywoluka, Urkaine to Alexander and Olena Jakymiw. She was the youngest of four girls and one boy. She came to the United States in 1949 and lived in Hartford. After graduation she worked at Aetna Insurance. She then married her beloved husband Ewhen in 1961 and moved to East Lyme, where they raised their three children. She also worked at Yankee Farmer and PAGES Inc.
She will be sorely missed by her sister Teklia Hanchuk, her daughter Natalie (Paul) Merry; sons Andrew (Christine) Towpasz, and Daniel (Victoria) Towpasz, her grandchildren; Rachel (Andrew) Roberge, Melanie Merry, Jazmyn Towpasz, and Roman Roberge.
The family would like to thank Bride Brook Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care of Julia.
A Mass will be held on March 20, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Saint Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church at 178 Linwood Ave, Colchester. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery on Route 85, in Colchester.
