Karen Lee Muir, age 60, of Wethersfield and formerly of Illinois, passed away at Hartford Hospital on May 6, 2020 after complications from a life-long struggle with Juvenile Diabetes.  Born on November 4, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN, she was a daughter of Robert and Gail (Hendrickson) Muir. Karen grew up in Illinois and graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL with a BA in Chemistry and Biology.  Karen had a diverse and interesting career beginning in 1981 as a chemist and researcher with the Illinois Institute of Technology.  In 1985, Karen moved to California where she worked for the Redkin Labs as a Chemist and later, a Quality Control Supervisor.  She then worked with Pheonomenex in CA as a product specialist and sales representative.  Karen was a dedicated and hardworking spiritual woman; she was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wethersfield for many years. She will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by her longtime companion, Daniel DeBella, with whom she made her home; her parents, Robert and Gail Muir of Peoria, IL; five siblings, Linda Finney of New Hope, MN, Christine Huntress of Raymond, NH, Nancy Penk of Williamsville, IL, Steven Muir of Quincy, IL, Brian Muir of Chicago, IL; and numerous extended family members and friends, especially Susan, Chuck, Lisa, Anna, Julie, Jane, her extended family at St. Paul's, and most of all, her loyal Sir Hottie D.  She was predeceased by her 16-year-old son, Leigh, who passed in 1999.  In accordance with her wishes, funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Karen’s name be sent to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 371 Wolcott Hill Road, Wethersfield, CT 06109, or to the American Diabetes Association P.O.
