Karen Ann Rioux, 60, of Lebanon, passed away suddenly on Thursday May 25, 2023, at her house on Amston Lake, passing away in the middle of what she enjoyed the most, tending to her garden. Born March 12, 1963, in Windham, CT; she was a daughter of the late Harold Martin and Jean (Moreau) Pennington. Karen was a graduate of Windham High School. She worked as a housekeeper at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham for 32 years. In her spare time, she loved to garden, listen to and collect classic rock music. She will be remembered as a warm and loving soul who cherished the residents she helped at the nursing home like they were members of her own family. Karen is survived by her daughter Stephanie Truax and husband Steven Truax; her daughter’s father Roger Rioux; siblings Harold “Butch” Martin, Jr. and wife Theresa Martin, Kenneth Martin, Donna McCormick and Nancy Dorveral; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Care of private arrangements have been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Garden Conservancy (gardenconservancy.org).
