Kartherine Marchon

Katherine Marchon, of Oakdale, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2022. She was 96 years old.  Born in Dytyatin, Ukraine on October 15, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Pantelemon and Varvara Lapchinski. She married her beloved husband Peter Marchon on May 27, 1947 in Germany. The couple emigrated to America in 1951.  Peter predeceased her on July 4, 1993 after 46 years of marriage. Katherine was a devout member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Colchester where she was very involved with making pierogi and fundraising for the church. She was well known for her talent with cooking and for the beautiful gardens she grew in her own back yard.  She will be remembered fondly as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed but remembered with love by her children, Paul Marchon of Montville, Jerry and his wife Alice Marchon of Willimantic; two grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Jaime Marchon, Julie Marchon and her fiancé Jeremiah Richardson; and numerous extended family members and friends.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Anna Marchon. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 25th beginning at 9 am at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Linwood Ave., Colchester. Immediately following the Mass, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Peter in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Colchester.  For online condolences, please visitwww.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
