She was born the eldest of ten children to the late Philip A. and Margaret M. McMurray on November 24, 1942, in Fitchburg, MA.
After moving to Ashby, MA in 1955, she graduated from Ashby High School in 1960. Upon graduation, she was employed as a telephone operator at the Fitchburg Sentinel and Fitchburg State University, Fitchburg, MA.
For 34 years Kathleen was the beloved wife of the late John M. Bartlett, who passed away in 1998. Together they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, especially to California, West Palm Beach, and Key West Florida.
Kathleen was a loving mother to John M. Bartlett Jr. (wife Jennifer) of Florence, MA, Joseph M. Bartlett of Coventry, CT and Jennifer M. Velazquez (husband Sean) of Estero, FL. Her family was her heart and soul, setting an example of unconditional love, commitment and hard work.
She is also survived by her much-loved grandchildren, Lauren, Tyler and Erica Velazquez, and Emma and Dylan Bartlett. They were the love of her life whom she enjoyed making memories and spending time with.
She leaves behind her brothers Philip (wife Debbie) and Peter (wife Mary) McMurray of Ashby, MA, Michael McMurray of Fitchburg, MA, sisters, Patricia Thibault of Ashby, MA and Joan Fournier of Whitinsville, MA along with several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Kathleen was predeceased by her brother Bernard McMurray of Ashby, MA, sisters Barbara Dingler of Salem, NH, Janet Steimel and Margaret Tremblay of Townsend, MA and In laws James (wife Linda), Leslie, and Thomas Bartlett.
While raising her family, Kathy worked as a librarian at the Craigin Memorial Library, Sunshine Educational Collaborative, and finished her management career at Alpha Q Industries in Colchester. In retirement she also worked at the Colchester Florist and Polish Club.
Kathleen enjoyed summers at Dewey Beach, Delaware and traveling to Italy, NYC, and Florida with family members, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was skilled in her sewing, creating bridal headpieces, gardening, and hosting holiday parties. Kathleen was an original soccer mom when she and her husband John began the Uncas Soccer Club. Taking loving care of her dogs, Lacey and Ally, reading and listening to music brought joy and delight to her days as well as musicals and operas. Kathy will be remembered as a person who loved deeply and was generous with her time. She showered her family with all that was needed in life. Nana will forever be in our hearts and memories.
