Kay Elizabeth Anderson, née Kloster, passed away surrounded by loved ones at her home in Colchester, Connecticut on Saturday, May 30, 2021. She was 65.
Kay was born in Moline, Illinois on October 5, 1955, to Per and Nancy Kloster and grew up in Iowa, North Dakota, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Florida. She was a graduate of Jupiter High School in Florida. Kay took on a variety of jobs after graduation, such as being an accounting specialist for Boy Scouts of America Connecticut Rivers Council, where she worked with many friends. She was also a volunteer treasurer for Boy Scouts Troop 72 in Colchester, where she dedicated over 20 years of her life experience and passion.
She got married on June 16, 1979 to Larry John Anderson, who preceded his wife in death, and focused her energy on her two children, Rebecca Berta and Chris Anderson, and their upbringing. While raising a growing family, Kay also found time to participate in a number of community activities. She loved camping with Happy Wanderers FCRV, making gingerbread houses with her grandchildren, and watching sappy movies on the Hallmark Channel. Crafting became a huge part of her life, to the point where the list of supplies she needed was never-ending. Kay also loved doing puzzles and playing games while spending time with her family and beloved pets, Kimi the dog and Moo the cat.
Family and friends remember Kay as kind, confident, quick-witted, and sometimes stubborn. She was also sassy, honest, hard-working and a problem-solver who was dedicated to helping people and being there for others. What people loved best about Kay was her friendly personality and how quick she was to make a joke. She gave the best warm hugs to her grandkids, and she was always ready for a new adventure.
Kay is survived by daughter Rebecca Berta and her husband Aaron Berta of Colchester, Connecticut, beloved grandson Bryce Berta and granddaughter Delaney Berta, and son Chris Anderson and his wife Shelby Anderson of New Britain, Connecticut. She also leaves her brother David Kloster and family of Virginia and sister Tora Allred and family of Florida.
Memorial services will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Visiting hours will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, June 4.
