Lilly Effie (Simpson) McQuarrie

Lilly Effie Simpson McQuarrie. Born Oct 19,1924 to Isaac Simpson and Effie Walton Simpson in Amity, Maine went home peacefully, in her own bed, wrapped in love, surrounded by family and friends after a long, well lived, admirable life of helping people and taking care of her family, On November 13th at 6:30 pm. In her 97 years she enjoyed many things, but nothing more than her family and friends.  Lilly was a strong and steady source of friendship and comfort to many people. She always made sure everyone’s socks and mittens were warm and dry and no one was hungry. Lilly, “Ma” “Marshie” “Daeda”, her steady presence, smile, unique sayings, old time wisdom, chats over coffee, homemade bread, rhubarb custard pies, lemon meringue pies, and her love and loyalty to her  family are already sorely missed by her son, Jeff McQuarrie, daughter-in-law Debbie McQuarrie, her daughter Jane Webster, her son in law Robert Webster, her granddaughter Rachael Butova, grandson in law Joe Butova, her grandson Leigh McQuarrie, to whom she was a devoted stand in mother to from a young age, her great grandchildren Danny McQuarrie, Resa McQuarrie and Joey Wolf Butova as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews. She was welcomed home jubilantly by many beloved family members who had predeceased her. Her son, Danny McQuarrie, her husband, Wendell “Leigh” McQuarrie and her thirteen brothers and sisters, all of whom she had been deeply longing to see. The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to close family friend, Sidney Noella Pagnano who went above and beyond in Lilly’s final years and days taking exceptional care of Lilly and her family. Special thank you to Julie Holmes and Kim Doyle for their great care of and companionship to Lilly, helping Lilly’s daughter, Jane fulfill Lillys wishes of living out her life to the highest quality in her beautiful Lake Hayward home, and an extra special thank you to Lilly’s little buddy, Jackson Holmes, who always brightened her days.
