Linda Paine Obituary

Linda Carol Paine, 75, of Moosup, passed away on February 16, 2025, at home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. Born January 5, 1950, in Bangor, Maine; she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Dorothea (Griffith) Rumney.  Linda moved to Colchester when she was a child and graduated from Bacon Academy in 1969, and shortly after graduating married her first husband, Thomas S. Ladegard. Over the years Linda worked as a CNA providing home care for numerous patients, and as a pharmacy technician for National Drug. In 1997 she married her second husband, David Paine, they settled in Virgina where David worked as a carpenter and ordained minister who would council and minister to prisoners with Linda by his side assisting. Together they reached out to souls incarcerated in the prison system and oversaw programs that benefited both inmates and their families. After David passed away in 2018, she resettled back in Connecticut. Additionally, she will be remembered for her love of knitting and crocheting and delicious baking recipes, as well as being an avid UConn basketball fan, especially when it came to supporting the UConn women’s basketball. Her greatest pride and joy in life however came from her family. She fully embraced the role of being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Greg) Bourgeois, stepchildren David Paine Jr. and Zak Paine and their spouses, and numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and spouse, she is predeceased by her son Thomas Ladegard, and brother John Rumney. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT, followed by a memorial service at 1 PM. She will be laid to rest at the Linwood cemetery in Colchester at a later date.
