Linnea Stula Quinley, of Southbury and formerly of Colchester, passed away peacefully with her attentive family by her side on October 7, 2023, in Windham. A daughter of the late Michael and Pauline (Wickson) Stula, Linnea was born on March 26, 1945. She was a graduate of Bacon Academy in Colchester and later went on to earn a BA in Nursing from the University of Evansville in Indiana. Linnea was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority while attending college and she continued active involvement with them, serving as President and then Secretary of the Eastern Connecticut Chapter. Linnea was a dedicated caregiver throughout her career working for the Veteran’s Administration as a teacher and later as a Registered Nurse at Backus Hospital in Norwich. In her retirement, Linnea became an active member of her community of Heritage Village in Southbury. She took on the role of Condo Secretary for several years as well as the Social Coordinator of the Women’s Club. Linnea also enjoyed travel, visiting Scandinavia and Israel and musically cultural trips to Vinnea, Prague, Budapest, Paris, the British Isles, Montreal, and Quebec City with her partner Clinton. She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her loving companion, Clinton Macgowan, with whom she made her home; her children, Michael and his wife Erin Quinley of Chaplin, Melissa Quinley of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Calvin and Lucas Quinley; and many extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Jocelyn Stula. Calling hours will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester on Friday, October 13th from 10 – 11:30 am.
