Louis Joseph Amara, more fondly known as Lou, of Colchester, passed away on February 11, 2023. He was 79 years old. Born in Hartford on June 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Joseph and Palma (Solustro) Amara. Lou attended Central Connecticut State University studying Engineering before leaving to serve with the US Navy. After his military service, he worked for Shepherd Steel, designing for them throughout his dedicated and successful career. He married Maria Scalise and the couple shared 44 years together before his passing. Lou will be remembered fondly as a devoted and loving husband, father, and friend. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Maria Scalise Amara; his sons, Matthew, Sean and wife Lynn. Joseph and wife Eliana; his daughters, Robin Conboy and husband David, Jillian Reed and husband Scott, Elizabeth Cahill and husband Mark. He also leaves behind a brother, Joseph Amara; sisters, Josephine Bouchard and Camille Mayer; grandchildren, Christopher, Kelsey, Jamison, Brennan, Elizabeth, Allison, Jake, Margaux, Marina, Marcus, Sofia, and Isabella; two great grandchildren, Stone and Sage and many extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on March 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 30 Church Street, Hebron, CT.
