Lynn Ann Joy, 72, of Hebron, passed away surrounded by her family at Apple Rehab on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Lynn’s passing sadly occurred on the day of her 20th anniversary of her marriage to her devoted husband and caretaker, Donald Joy. Lynn was born on May 30, 1952, in Norwich, CT; she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Kathleen (Kelly) Costello. Lynn was a graduate of Saint Bernard High School in New London, and later went on to achieve her master’s degree in education from Eastern Connecticut State University. Lynn exuded compassion and kindness, and she extended that gift to the hundreds of children she taught at the Tolland Cooperative Preschool for over 40 years. In addition to her preschool work, she also worked for a time at Sturbridge Village, in Massachusetts. Among other hobbies, Lynn was part of a Sewing Club since the 1980’s. Although they are not sewing anymore, these friends continue to meet every month and Lynn would attend when she could. Lynn was a woman of considerable faith and a communicant of the Church of The Holy Family Church in Hebron for many years working in the musical department of the Church. She is survived by her husband, Donald Joy; stepdaughter Katie Joy; siblings Lenny Costello and wife Heike, Tim Costello and wife Donna, Katy Foster and husband Chris, Dan Costello and wife Susan and Anne Fish and husband Ron; brother-in-law Mark Sheehan; nieces and nephews Shane, Chris, Cavin, Kevin, Erin, Reann, John, Cait, Liam and Molly; and numerous other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Beth Sheehan. A memorial liturgy will be held for Lynn on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10 AM at the Church of The Holy Family 185 Church St, Amston, CT 06231. Burial will take place at a later date.
