Margaret Belle O'Brien Obituary
Margaret Belle OBrien (Marge), of East Windsor and formerly of Colchester, passed away on March 27, 2026, with her family by her side. She was 86 years old. Marge was born in Middletown on August 21, 1939. She was a daughter to the late Frank Porter and Mildred (Boynton) Falbowski.
She married Robert OBrien on May 26, 1979. He survives her.
Marge was valedictorian of her high school class, graduating in 1957 from Bacon Academy in Colchester. She had an associate degree from Three Rivers Community College. She worked as a real estate agent for many years and at the Southern Auto Auction in East Windsor. Her greatest joy was researching her familys genealogy, and she spent many hours in the basements of various churches scanning through microfilm and in town offices looking for clues. Marge would share her findings with any family member that would listen. She enjoyed taking photographs of family and friends, gardening, art, and some crafting. She leaves behind an extensive collection of family genealogy research and pictures. She also enjoyed watching UConn basketball, especially the women Huskies and she was very proud that her grandchildren were UConn alumni.
Marge will be sadly missed but remembered with love by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Roxanne and her husband, Richard Roy of East Haddam; siblings, Dorothy Zadroga of Middletown, Frances Stiwinter of Oakdale, Ruth Schoenlein of Michigan, Sue (Bob) Leone of Lebanon, sister-in-law, Stella Chabot of East Hampton and brother-in-law, Cornelius Banta of Bozrah; grandchildren, Joshua Roy, Chelsea (Bill) Long, four great-grandchildren all of Colchester as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends. In addition, she has four step-children: Robert of Willimantic, James of Pennsylvania, John of Colchester and Maureen (Tom) Moore of Hebron, seven step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Marge was predeceased in death by her son, Willard BJ Miles, a brother, Frank Porter; a sister Joan Banta, brother-in-law Earl Stiwinter; her first husband, Willard "Bill" Miles and her step-father-in-law Alex Falbowski. In addition, she was predeceased by Roberts parents Edward and Felicia (Strach) and Roberts brother Edward, his sister Patty and a daughter-in-law, Jill OBrien.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements. For online condolences or to share a story of Margaret, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
