Margaret Mary Schoell

Margaret Mary Schoell, fondly known as Marge, passed away on June 25, 2026, at her home in Pinellas Park, Florida. A former resident of Colchester, Connecticut, she was 89 years old. Born on February 20, 1937, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Nora (Sullivan) Gayer. On July 15, 1957, Marge married the love of her life, Louis A. Schoell. Together they shared nearly 69 years of love, adventure, and unwavering devotion to one another and to the family they built. They lived in Colchester while raising their children and later retired to Florida. Marge enjoyed a long and successful career with The Travelers Insurance Company. She was a communicant of St. Andrew Church and a proud member of the Red Hat Society Gals of Colchester. In her free time, she could often be found reading a novel or playing Scrabble, a game she usually managed to win one way or another.

Nothing brought Marge greater joy than being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every gathering, every visit, and every opportunity to create memories with those she loved. Through her kindness, strength, and example, she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue for generations. Above all, Marge will be remembered for her quick wit, unmistakable personality, unwavering love for her family, and the laughter she brought to those fortunate enough to know her.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Louis; her loving children, Theresa Tasker of Vero Beach, Florida; Kathleen Gay and her husband, Norman Beausoleil, of St. Petersburg, Florida; Michael Schoell of Colchester, Connecticut; her son-in-law, Rick Fenner of Waterford, Connecticut; her sister, Mary Cotter and her husband, Thomas, of New Jersey; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Collins and her husband, John Davies, of Connecticut; nine cherished grandchildren; Sarah Caiafa (Paul), Shannon Nicola, Luna Tasker, James Tasker, Ashley Gay (Steve), Alyshia Gay, Megan Farrington (Derek), Tyler Poole and Joshua Schoell; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Nora Fenner; her brothers, Michael Gayer and James Gayer; and her sister, Alice Seery; and her son-in-law Troy E. Tasker.

The family would like to thank Empath Hospice for their work with Marge. Their guidance and support helped to provide Marge with additional resources that gave her comfort and peace in her final months. The family would also like to give their sincere thanks to the staff at Magnolia Gardens, where Marge lived for the last 3 years. They treated Marge with love, compassion, and respect. Her face always brightened during their visits and the family will be forever grateful. Their kindness and comfort will always be remembered. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, at Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Calling hours will be from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Church in Colchester.
