Marie Claire Lopes

Marie Claire (Brassard) Lopes, of Charlton, MA and formerly of Northfield, VT and Lebanon, CT, passed away at UMass Medical Center in Worchester, MA on January 14, 2022.  She was 91 years old.  Born on January 7, 1931, in Brookfield, VT, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Clara (Belanger) Brassard.  Marie raised her family in Lebanon where she lived, and moved to Sarasota, Florida. Marie returned to be with family and retire in Charlton, MA. She was a woman of strong faith and was a member of the Red Hat Society, and the Jazz Club of Sarasota, Florida.   Marie was a licensed beautician for over 30 years and owner and operator of Marie’s Beauty Coiffeur in Norwich. She loved gardening, jazz music and her beloved family, who viewed her a beloved matriarch, and was loved by all.  She will be remembered as a woman full of love and fun, drawing strength from her faith, and having a beautiful outlook on life.  Most importantly, she will be remembered by her family as a devoted and doting mother and grandmother who gave them love easily and generously.  Marie will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by her children and their spouses, Joseph Mark Lopes of Lebanon, Deborah Marie and her husband George Senerth of Little River, SC, Cheryl Ann and her husband Bryce Larson of Jupiter, FL; brothers, Jim Brassard of Sarasota, FL, Maurice Brassard of Southwick, MA; sisters, Louise Brassard of Sarasota, FL, Lucille Wiedle of Silver Spring, MD; six grandchildren, Justin Henry, Joseph and Michael Lopes, David, Ryan and Brittney Senerth; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Bernard, Leo and Robert Brassard, a sister, Genevieve Lister, daughter in law, Brenda Lopes, and former husband Adolph Lopes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.  For online condolences, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
