We are sad to announce on November 24, 2021 we had to say goodbye to Marie Tarnowski, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Marie, informally known as one of the “Skut” girls, was a strong woman with great character. If you were lucky enough to have known Marie, you were blessed with her love, endless advice, favorite gardening tip or recipe. For those that have the pierogi recipe, keep that one close to your heart, not many do. She enjoyed knitting, crabbing, feeding the hummingbirds and her dog Kate. Most of all, she loved to talk on the phone or visit with her friends and family. Her door was always open.
Marie was survived by her two daughters, Louise Papineau and husband Tim of Oakdale and Linda Tarnowski and husband Patrick Baxter of Oakdale; two grandchildren, Samantha Barbaro and husband Steven of Wallingford and Allie Plack and fiancé Nathan Lafond of Bow, N.H.; a great grandchild Claire Barbaro and numerous extended friends and family.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Robert Tarnowski.
Honoring her request, the family will hold funeral services privately. Because she always had a dog companion, donations in her name may be made to the CT Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Rd, Quaker, CT 06375
