Marilyn Austin Obituary

Marilyn Jeanette Austin, age 83, of Marlborough, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 26th at Harrington Court in Colchester.

Born in Irasburg, VT on August 21, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Irving & Gladys (Dow) Badger. As a young woman, Marilyn met and fell in love with Roger Austin; the couple married on July 4, 1959; they spent 54 years together until Roger predeceased her in 2013.

Marilyn worked as a secretary for Glovers and Pratt & Whitney; she also worked in the Hebron Elementary School system. Marilyn was a hard worker; she did not retire until age 71.

Marilyn loved to shop, she also enjoyed cooking and baking delicious meals & treats for her beloved family, especially  her famous Snickerdoodle cookies. She loved animals and shared a very special bond with her orange tabby cat. Above all however, Marilyn’s greatest joy in life was simply spending time with her family, taking trips back to Vermont, vacationing at Lake Memphremagog and creating so many wonderful memories together.

Marilyn will be forever missed but remembered with love by her children, Michael Austin & his life partner, Carry Cote of Colchester and Cheryl Austin & her life partner, Angelo Simoni of East Hampton; her beloved cat, Tony; granddaughters, Chrystal & Mandy; nieces, Bonnie & her husband, Ray Shedrick, Priscilla & her husband, Howard Sherman and Susan & her husband, Cliff Church; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to both of her parents and her husband, Roger, Marilyn was predeceased by her son, Reginald Tiedeman-Austin and her brother, Wayne Badger.

Marilyn will be laid to rest in Irasburg, VT, at Irasburg Cemetery. In accordance with her wishes, services will be private. The Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.
