Maureen June St. Clair, 84, of Colchester, beloved mother and wife, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 5, 2022. Born June 22, 1937, in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Eva (Trudeau) Flaherty. She was predeceased by her brother, John Flaherty, and her beloved husband of 56 years, James E. St. Clair. Maureen and Jim met at the University of Connecticut, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree, in 1959. They wed on September 10, 1960. She taught high school business classes until she and Jim moved to Colchester, in 1966, to raise a family. She would return to work as the Assessor for the town of Colchester, a position she held for a decade. For many years, Maureen volunteered her time to raise money for the American Cancer Society and to work the election polls. She was an avid reader, accomplished seamstress, and talented pianist. She enjoyed traveling, had a deep appreciation for the cultural arts, and relished good times and laughs with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Pamela St. Clair, and her partner Nathaniel Foote, of Old Lyme and Gregory St. Clair and his wife, Karen Hart, of Great Britain, UK, and by her nephew, Peter Flaherty, of Hyannis, MA. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd from 10AM to 12PM at the Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., in Colchester.
