Maureen Tardif Obituary

Maureen (McNamara) Tardif, 82, of Salem and formerly of New Britain, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Born May 30, 1938 in New Britain, she was a daughter of the late John and Emma (Briere) McNamara. She attended local schools in New Britain. In 1960, She was married to Joseph Tardif who predeceased her in 2019. Prior to starting a family, she worked at Pratt & Whitney. Later in life, she worked as a receptionist at the Williams School in New London. She spent many years at the Williams School acting as a second mother to many. She enjoyed reading and socializing with her family and friends. Maureen was a communicant at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She also volunteered as part of the Gardner Lake Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and as a board member of the Salem Seniors. Maureen will be remembered by many for her ability to comfort people with her kind words, but most of all for her devotion to family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be forever loved and remembered by her children, Greg (Betsy) Tardif of Hamden, Kenneth (Donna) Tardif of Bozrah, Keith (Colleen) Tardif of Manchester, Karen (Vincent) Patterson of Salem, and Leanne (John) Santos of East Lyme; her sister Eleanor Martin of Newington, her grandchildren, Joshua (Sarah), Paul (Cassie), Garrett, John, Colin, Jacqueline, and Kylee; and her great granddaughter Leighton. She was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Brady and Rosemary Boccaccio. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11 am at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, Oakdale, CT. Burial will follow in the Salem Green Cemetery. The Tardif family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Tremaglio and his team at Hartford Hospital for their kindness and dedication.
