Michael Babinski Obituary

Michael L. Babinski DMD, MS, MAGD, age 68, of Waterford, and formerly of Lebanon, passed away on his birthday, Monday April 17th, 2023. Born in Michigan and having lived in Massachusetts and New Jersey, settled for the majority of his life in Connecticut. The son of Paul and Mary Lou (Raths) Babinski, the husband of Christine (Colonis) and father of Evan, Nathan and James. He practiced dentistry in Colchester CT from 1986-2021. He was a member of numerous organizations: a Charter member of the Valley Grenadiers Jr. Drum & Bugle Corps, Cross Country and Track at Pascack Valley HS, Nutmeg German Shorthaired Pointer Club, ASDA, ADA, AGD, NLCDS, CSDA, Hospice of SE CT, the Colchester Business Association , as well as serving as an Elder at Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed a full life participating in cross country skiing, 4 season backpacking, soccer, horseback bird dog field trialing, alpine skiing and cycling (having completed 8 100+ mile events). He also dabbled in photography. His work experiences included paper boy, delivery and prep for Chicken Delight, summer janitorial, floor care and garbage man. He served as an R.A and H.R in the Residences at UCONN. He worked full time at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Connecticut for 2.25 years prior to entering Dental School. He completed an ADA General Practice Residency at VAMC West Haven, St Raphael's Hospital and Yale New Haven. He then joined the Colchester Dental Group where he practiced until his retirement. He was predeceased by his parents, by his Aunt Martha( his Godmother), his Aunt Pat, Uncles John, Lon and Bob , by brother-in-laws Mike Formicola, Peter Ferrari and John Hart as well as by 3 cousins. He leaves behind his wife Christine of 25 years, his 3 sons Evan, Nathan and James, his sisters Teresa (Elbrus) Kelemet, Beth Hart, Luann Ferrari and Amy (Tim) Bartlett as well as nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the services of the Hospice team from the Hartford Health Care system. These committed, personable and caring professionals provided exceptional care which we will forever be grateful for. Calling hours will take place on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT.  The Funeral will take place the following morning (Saturday, April 22, 2023) at 11 AM at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lebanon, 328 Village Hill Rd, Lebanon, CT, burial will follow in the North Lebanon Cemetery on Synagogue Road in Lebanon CT.
