Michael Lerro Obituary

Michael Cameron Lerro, 30, of Killingly, CT. and formerly of Toronto, Ontario CA and Colchester, CT., passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021.  Born June 9, 1990 in Hartford, CT; he was the son of Donald and Tammy (Chapman) Lerro. Mike grew up in Colchester where he was a graduate of Bacon Academy. He went on to study and graduate from McGill University in Canada and later Yale University, where he earned his Master’s degree in Public Health Administration/Epidemiology. He was currently pursuing his Doctoral degree in Public Health through the University of Toronto.

Mike had a great sense of humor and a bright spirit that was contagious to those around him. He had an amazing ability to make others laugh and loved having fun with his family and friends. His witty humor, friendly personality, and loud, rolling laughter brought smiles to all those around him. Mike enjoyed anything and everything related to music, including playing guitar and going to concerts. He had a creative touch and spent much of his free time thinking up new culinary experiments and building things for the home. He loved playing ice hockey and was a life-long fan of the sport.

Mike is survived by his wife Jessica Lerro and their son River Lerro; father Donald Lerro of Colchester, CT;  his mother Tammy Lerro and stepfather Eric Quinn of Killingly, CT; his sister Erika Lerro of Charleston, SC and sister and brother-in-law Sara (Lerro) and Nick Murdock of Woodstock; his paternal grandmother Virginia Lerro of Simsbury, maternal grandparents David and Mabel Ann Chapman of South Windsor; his nephews Landon, Owen, and niece Avery Murdock of Woodstock; and numerous extended family and friends. He also had two dogs, Sydney and Kodak, that he loved and took everywhere he went.

A private memorial service for family will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Devil’s Hopyard State Park in East Haddam, CT.  A memorial gathering for family and friends is planned for the spring.
